FAQ Section

Do you provide spay and neuter assistance?

Northeast Arkansas Humane Society offers low-cost spay and neuter for cats to low-income families. To register, please fill out the form under the medical clinic tab. We only take appointments two months in advance and we only have a limited number of spots.

How do I adopt?

You will need to fill out an application on our adoption tab; once approved, we will call to setup a time for a private meet and greet. This process can take 1-5 business days.

What animals do you have and how much is adoption fee?

You can view the available animals and adoption fees on our adoption tab.

I found a dog, what do I do? How do I surrender an animal?

It can be difficult to come across a stray pet and leave it. All rescues have limited space and may not be able to take it in, so be prepared to hold it. You have to call the shelter to see if we have room or you can call other local rescues. You can’t always assume the pet is abandoned, it may be lost. You can send us a picture and location to our Northeast Arkansas Humane Society Facebook messenger.

For all owner surrenders, there is a fee to surrender an animal. We can only take in surrenders when we have room.

What is the two-week puppy program?

Any dog under 6 months old has to have two parvo distemper shots before they can stay in the facility with us due to health reasons. They must be at least 6 weeks old before we can start their vaccinations. If you would like to start the program, call the office and we will set up a time for you to bring them in for their first shots.

At this time you have surrendered them to us and you are now a foster. After the second shot, you must bring the same amount back to us to adopt out. We will setup a time for you to bring them back in two weeks for their last shot and to stay at the shelter!

We highly encourage you to get the female mom dog spayed and we have a program we can work with the owner on getting that done.
